2)On the first casket it was written - All that glitters is not gold and a rotten dead skull was find with a scroll in it.

Morocco was the first suitor He picks the golden casket, because it says that what is inside is what all men desire. But instead of Portia's picture, the casket contains a skull with a scroll stuck through an eye socket. In Act II, Scene 7, an African prince named Morocco has come to woo Portia.

Who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire.

Silver:-

who choseth me should gain as much as he deserves.

Lead:-

"Who chooseth me must give and hazard all he hath."

Portia's father deceived the lottery of casket . Whosever chooses the correct casket in which Portia's picture is portrayed shall be eligible to woo Portia.

i) Three caskets :-

  • Gold : who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire.
  • Silver :Who chooseth me shall get as much as he deserves.
  • Lead : Who chooseth me must give and hazard all he hath.

ii) The Prince of Morocco is the first suitor to make the lottery of casket. He chooses the gold casket , showing that he is brave , superficial and materialistic.
