i. Since the two bulbs are connected in series, if the first bulb burns out there is a break in the circuit and hence the second bulb does not glow.
ii. The electric laundry iron, electric toaster, electric oven, electric kettle and electric heater are some of the familiar devices based on the heating effect of current.
