ANS I) Cell is called structural unit because body of all the organisms is made up of cells. It is functional unit of life because all the functions of body (physiological, biochemical. genetic and other functions) are carried out by cells.

ANS II) The plasma membrane is called as selectively permeable membrane because it regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cell. It means that the plasma membrane allows some material to pass through it while at the same time it blocks other material from entering through it.

ANS III) Osmosis is a factor decides the movement of water.
