simile u can identify by the words
as and like
metaphor is the straight comparison between two things

simile and metaphor both are poetic divices
simile is used when u want to compare 2 things let me give u an example .
if u want u compare btw 2 things such as a flower and sun then use simile
like this flower is like sun
metaphor is used when u specify first thing to be same as the second one. an example would
eg . the flower is a sun .
