While both similes and metaphors are used to make comparisons, thedifference between similes and metaphors comes down to a word.Similes use the words like or as tocompare things—“Life is like a box ofchocolates.” In contrast, metaphorsdirectly state a comparison—“Love is a battlefield.”

simile is a direct comparison using like or as
he is as proud as a peacock
here a direct comparison is shown between the subject and peacock on the basis of proudness

metaphor is a comparison too , but not clearly stated therefore it is known as implied simile also
all the world's a stage
this is an indirect comparison between work and stage...
