two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 24 hours and 30 hours respectively if both the pipes are opened simultaneously in the empty tank, how much time will be taken by them to fill it?

Time taken by pipe A=24 hrs.
The time taken in unit time=1/24 hr.

Similarly for B=1/30 hr.

Since they are opened simultaneously,

1/Time required=1/24 +1/30

--->(5+4)/120
Therefore time=120/9 hrs= 13.33 hrs
