60 students participated in a Quiz Contest. each of the winners would get rupees 750 and the remaining participants would get rupees 125 each. if the total amount distributed was rupees 17500 find the winners of the contest​

Let the Number of Winners in the Contest be : W

Given : 60 students participated in the Quiz

★  Remaining Participants who are not Winners = (60 - W)

Given : Each of the Winners would get ₹ 750

★  Money received by the Winners = (W × 750)

Given : Remaining Participants would get ₹ 125 each

★  Money received by remaining Participants = (60 - W) × 125

Given : Total Amount distributed in the Contest : ₹ 17500

It means : Sum of the Money received by the Winners and Remaining Participants should be equal to ₹ 17500

$:\implies$  (W × 750) + (60 - W) × 125 = 17500

$:\implies$  750W + (60 × 125) - 125W = 17500

$:\implies$  625W + 7500 = 17500

$:\implies$  625W = 17500 - 7500

$:\implies$  625W = 10000

$\mathsf{:\implies W = \dfrac{10000}{625}}$

$:\implies$  W = 16
