What is the difference between Lateral surface area and Curved surface area?

Let us take up the example of a cylinder and a cuboid.
In the case of a cylinder the area of the surface excluding the two circles is called the CURVED surface area while in case of a cuboid, the area of 4 adjacent rectangle are called lateral surface area.
