Solution :

We have,

 \tt\dagger \:  \underline{  - (x + y) = ( - x)  + ( - y)}

 \tt\longmapsto  - (x + y) =(  - x ) + (- y).

 \tt\longmapsto  - (x + y) =  - x - y.

\tt\longmapsto   -( x + y) =  - (x + y)

Remove negative sign both sides,

\tt\longmapsto  x + y = x + y.

LHS = RHS

\rule{90}1

Now,

  • X = 2/3.
  • Y = 5/7.

Putting given value.

\tt\longmapsto  ( \frac{2}{3}  +  \frac{5}{7} ) = ( \frac{2}{3}  +  \frac{5}{7} )

\tt\longmapsto   \frac{14 + 15}{21}  =  \frac{14 + 15}{21}

\tt\longmapsto   \frac{29}{21}  =  \frac{29}{21}

Therefore, LHS = RHS.

−(x+y)=(−x)+(−y)

\tt\longmapsto - (x + y) =( - x ) + (- y).⟼−(x+y)=(−x)+(−y).

\tt\longmapsto - (x + y) = - x - y.⟼−(x+y)=−x−y.
