Answer:

5400

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the principal be x.

(i)

R = 10% p.a

Time = 1 year.

S.I = PTR/100

    = (x * 10 * 1)/100

    = 10x/100

    = x/10

Amount after 1st year = (x + x/10)

                                    = 11x/10

So, the principal for the 2nd year = (11/10)x.

(ii)

Given: Rate of interest = 11% P.a

Interest = (11x * 11 * 1)/1000

             = 121x/100

Then:

Amount after 2nd year = (11/10)x + (121/1000)x

                                      = (1221/1000)x

But, given amount = 6593.40.

⇒ (1221/1000)x = 6593.40

⇒ 1221x = 6593400

⇒ x = 5400

Therefore, the sum = 5400

Hope it helps!
