basin can be defined as a huge reservoir of natural resources

so this let's the river flow from high potential regions to low potential regions that is from high mountain areas to finally sea

hence it has its own path of flow, it doesn't flow on the foothills

PranuAryan: this path is formed over a long amount of time due to the flow of water over one defined path due to erosion
PranuAryan: yeah
Devipvu2004: Oh i see
Devipvu2004: Do u know the formation of northern plains??
PranuAryan: nope
Devipvu2004: In that case the basin in which the sediments was being deposited was lying at the foothills
Devipvu2004: Oh god
Devipvu2004: R u in 9th
PranuAryan: most definitely
Devipvu2004: Okay

Runoff. When precipitation reaches the earth's surface, some of it will flow along the surface of the land and enter surface water like lakes, streams, and rivers, as runoff. The rest of it soaks or percolates into the soil, called recharge.
