Generally, when I have to mark something on a map, I draw an imaginary vertical and then a horizontal line stretching from the border, and Mark the point they intersect at. It's also a great way to memorise locations.

You have to first see the map carefully and try to learn the boundaries of the countries and then take the map on which you want to mark and then carefully remember what were the boundaries of the different countries.... I have learnt by this method only and have scored marks hope this will help you also
