ANSWER :

Given :

▪ Initial volume of the gas = 12m^3

▪ Initial pressure of the gas = 120kPa

▪ Final pressure of the gas = 40kPa

To Find :

▪ Final volume of the gas.

Assumption :

▪ Temperature is constant.

Concept :

✏ This question is completely based on the concept of Boyle's law.

✏ As per Boyle's law, At constant temperature, the pressure of a fixed amount of gas varies inversely with its volume.

Mathematically,

P proportional to 1/V

Calculation :

→ P1V1 = P2V2

→ 12×120 = 40×V2

→ 1440 = 40×V2

→ V2 = 1440/40

V2 = 36m^3
