Differential scanning calorimeters, isothermal micro calorimeters, titration calorimeters and accelerated rate calorimeters are among the most common types. A simple calorimeter just consists of a thermometer attached to a metal container full of water suspended above a combustion chamber. It is one of the measurement devices used in the study of thermodynamics, chemistry, and biochemistry.

A calorimeter is an apparatus used to calculate the heat. It is made such that a copper container which is polished from both the sides is kept inside the wooden box .the fluid is kept in that copper container and the then the box is closed by the air tight lid.eventually the thermometer is held in the fluid through the hole of air tight lid.As the surfaces of copper container is polished and is covered by air tight lid the heat cannot be transferred by radiation and the accurate heat can be measured.
