Hi everyone,

This should be a simple question but I am a little confused.

For example,

I wrote a letter to her yesterday.

I have written a letter to her.

The first sentence simply states the fact that I wrote a letter to her;while the second sentence emphasizes that I have already written the letter to her, which implies that I have done with it and don't have to think about it. Am I right?

But can I say "I have written a letter to her yesterday" ? Because I want to get across both ideas 1. "I have done with the letter". 2. "It happened yesterday".

If the sentence is not correct is there any way to combine these two ideas into one sentence?

Thanks a lot.
