(x+\frac{1}{x})^2-(x-\frac{1}{x})^2 ............(1)

As we know the formula

a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)

Using this formula in eq.(1), We get

(x+\frac{1}{x})^2-(x-\frac{1}{x})^2=((x+\frac{1}{x})+(x-\frac{1}{x}))((x+\frac{1}{x})-(x-\frac{1}{x}))

On solving

                               =(x+\frac{1}{x}+x-\frac{1}{x})(x+\frac{1}{x}-x+\frac{1}{x})\\\\=(2x)(\frac{2}{x})\\ \\=4
