Answer:

In Equation (2)

x + 3y = 7

x = 7- 3y

Now placing it in Equation (1)

2(7-3y)+3y = 8

14 - 6y +3y = 8

14 - 3y = 8

- 3y = -6

y = -6/-3

y = 2

Now placing y as 2 in Equation (2),

x + 3*2 = 7

x + 6 = 7

x = 1
