As we Know

Work done = Force × Displacement

Work done in compressing a spring by a distance x is w

W_{1}=F_{1} \times x

w=F_{1} \times x</p><p>[tex]F_{1}=\frac{w}{x}

Now,If  Displacement = 2 x

Let Work done in compressing it by distance 2 x be W_{2}

Applying the same formula for work done as written above,which is

Work done = Force × Displacement

W_{2}= F_{1}\times (2 x)=\frac{w}{x}\times(2 x)=2 w[tex]⇒[F_{1}=\frac{w}{x}]
