Ib the adjoining figure,AP is a man of height 1.8m and PQ is a building 13.8m high. If the man sees the top of the building by focusing his binoculars at 30° to horizontal. Find the distance of the man and the building.

According to the given formula

 \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3 } }  =  \frac{13.8 - 1.8}{d}
By cross multiplication

d = 12 \sqrt{3 }
or
d = 20.7846m
