Idling refers to running a vehicle's engine when the vehicle is not in motion. This commonly occurs when drivers are stopped at a red light, waiting while parked outside a business or residence, or otherwise stationary with the engine running.

IC engines lose power when the engine is idle.

Reasons:

a) Idling is the stationary condition of the vehicle means when the engine is running but the vehicle is not in motion.

b) Piston rings and valvetrain components will wear down.

c) The ignition and combustion of the fuel occur within the engine itself.

d) The power loss is due to heat escaping from the cylinders and the engine.
