Let,the two no. be a and b,

● A.T.Q.,

(a)2 - (b)2 = 88 .......(i) ,

a = 2b - 5, .........(ii) ,

Substituting value of a in ..(i),

■■ (a)2 - (b)2 = 88

=》 (2b - 5 )2 - (b)2 = 88

=》 4(b)2 - 20b + 25 - (b)2 =88

=》 3(b)2 - 20b + 25 - 88 = 0

=》 3(b)2 - 20b -63 = 0

=》 3(b)2 - 27b + 7b - 63 = 0

=》 3b(b-9) + 7(b-9) = 0

=》 (b - 9)(3b + 7) = 0

=》 b=9 or b = -7/3

● When b=9,

a = 2b - 5 from....(ii),

a = (2 × 9) - 5

a = 18 - 5 = 13

● When b= -7/3 ,

a = 2b - 5 from....(ii),

a = (2 × -7/3) - 5

a = (-14/3) - 5

a = -29/3

Thanks!!!
