Ice is a solid but why it floots on water?

Ice float on water as its density is lower than water

Ice floats on water because even being the solidified form of water , ice is less denser than water. It has cage like structure with air particles trapped/present in it which makes it lighter. When it melts , air particles move out and water particles come slightly closer.
