Hi thank you for asking the question
When water is cooled up to zero degree centigrade the molecules stop vibrating and are fixed in a simple position containing air spaces between them that makes the ice solid
when water is heated up to 100 degree centigrade the molecules start escaping the surface and move freely and are no more connected to each other thus water goes to gaseous state
so water vapors are gas
hope this answer helps you
