Ice , water , steam are all the same substance that is water as changing of water to any of its other two forms solid or gas is a physical change. Only its physical state changes and there is no new substance formed . so they are all the same substance.

Explanation:

Freezing of water changes its state from liquid to solid, i.e ,ice. Melting of ice changes its state of matter from solid to liquid, i.e,water . And when we boil this water,Its state of matter changes from liquid to gas, i.e,Stream . And we condense this steam, it forms water .

Therefore, we conclude that, ice - water -stream are the three different states of substance and not different substances. All this change of states are due to different temperature applied.

Ice on heating - melts to water on futher heating - (by Evaporation ) gas

Gas on condensation - water on freezing - ice
