What is Baburnama?
- The Baburnama, also known as the Tuzuk-e Babri, is a collection of memoirs written by Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire and the great-great-great-grandson of Timur. This autobiography is also referred to as the "History of Babur" or "Letters of Babur." It is written in the Andijan-Timurids language of Chagatai, known as Türki to Babur.
- In his autobiography, Babar discussed his interest in designing and constructing formal gardens that were enclosed by rectangular walls and split into four sections by man-made canals. Because of the symmetry in their partition into quarters, these gardens were given the name Chaharbagh (four gardens).
- The Persian and Indo-Persian quadrilateral garden design known as Charbagh or Chahar Bagh is based on the four gardens of Paradise recorded in the Quran. It is also known as Chahr Bagh in Hindi and Urdu. The quadrilateral garden is separated into four smaller sections by pathways or running water.
