A typical or an ideal leaf has usually three parts:

(i) Leaf base, by means of which the leaf remains attached to the stem or branch. (ii) Leaf stalk or petiole, the cylindrical stalk which connects the leaf base with the flat blade. (iii) Leaf blade or lamina, the green flat expanded part of the leaf.
