In electronics a two-terminal electronic component which conducts mainly in one direction is known as a diode. It has low or zero resistance to the current in one direction and high or infinite resistance in the other.

Knee voltage is also known as cutting voltage. It is the minimum amount of voltage that is required to operate the components. For Germaium diode it is 0.3 V and for Silicon diode it is 0.7 V. .
