Answer:
IDEAS OF LIBERTY AND DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS WERE THE MOST IMPORTANT LEGACY OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION.
Explanation:
France was divided into 3 estates. The first estate consisted of the clergy, second nobility and third merchants, peasants and the other common people. The people of the third estate had to pay taxes to the State and church . The first two estates were given a lot of privileges and were exempted from paying taxes. Also many people from these estates were oppressive towards the people of the third estate. Moreover, with the spread of printing presses in Europe, new ideas about liberty, fraternity etc.. could be taught to common people. France had to face subsistence crisis often and the state was not ready to reduce the taxes as it had to clear off a debt. This made the people angry. All the women were considered inferior to men and were subjected to authority of fathers and husbands. Thus, with the spread of education, the people of the third estate became aware of the situation and wished for a democratic rule. They spread their ideas through books and other means. These ideas were discussed intensively in public places and we're read our aloud for the illiterate. Thus, this led to a revolution in France and the ideas of liberty and democratic rights were the most important legacy of the French revolution.
