Ice melting involves a change from a solid to a liquid and the substances maintain the properties of water because the molecules never change. 2. Water boiling is a physical change as water molecules vibrate faster, they enter the gas phase and become water vapor.

Hope it's helpful

There are obviously a lot of differences between solid and liquid.

Now let's take Ice and its liquid for water as an example.

  • Ice is a solid because it has reached below the freezing point which is (0 degrees Celcius) and the matter is hard and it has a formed and definite shape.
  • Another point is when you try to compress it, it is very tough to do so because of the fixed matter.
  • Now when it is in liquid form, there is no definite shape because the particles are loose but there is volume.
  • Also, liquids aren't very compressible as well because of the lack of distance between particles

As we learned the basic properties of the difference between solid and liquid when the transition happens as the ice goes above its freezing point and melts into water. The shape is lost because the matter is loose but it retains the same amount of volume if you measure it. The flow also increases as ice loses it's shape.

Henceforth the changes are

  • The ice loses its shape
  • The matter flows very easily once it melts.,
