Upon analyzing, the main theme of "Dragonwings" turned out to be the concept of, seperations in family and the devotion present in family systems.

Explanation:

The novel talks about Moon shadow living in the Middle Kingdom with his mother who has no knowledge of the man who is his biological father. And in this case Moon shadow is the one who knows stories about his father, narrated by his mother. He has never met his father because due to financial constraints his father was moved away from the country to America just like many other men. He went there to be able to earn for his family.

Later on, Moon Shadow's mother is the only one to work the farm, leaving her to struggle without the support of any of the men from her family being around.
