Ammonium chloride can be prepared by the following reaction -
HCl + NH4OH ---> NH4Cl + H2O
Therefore, the radicals present in NH4Cl are NH4+ and Cl-
and the reaction is a neutralization reaction, where acid and base are reacting to give salt and water.
The acid used is hydrochloric acid and the base used is Ammonium hydroxide.
Now, HCl is a strong acid and NH4OH is a weak base. Thus, NH4Cl is prepared from a strong acid and weak base! Therefore, the salt will be a little acidic in nature.
Since the salt is acidic in nature the pH of the salt will be less than 7. The pH range of NH4Cl is 4.5 to 6.0
