Overpopulation and poverty: Almost all problems of India. including all social issues, has roots in overpopulation. Strictly speaking population should not be a social issue. But in India it is. Indians are not worried enough of this huge problem. We are ready to proliferate and keep adjusting. Economists and politicians have even went on to discard the demerits and proclaim the merits of large, young and skilled population, which is not what Indian population is.
Poverty is a direct outcome of overpopulation which may be combated with efficient governance but why create the disease in the first place. Indians are viciously selfish and helpful simultaneously simply because of the fact that there is a mad race for limited resources.
Caste-based discrimination: Includes the lower castes being socially deprived and the higher castes reservation deprived. Inter-caste marriages are not accepted (even if your candidate wants to tie the knot with someone of higher caste).
Corruption: Perhaps the biggest social issue that widespread economic and political ramifications. Corruption is a societal trait. There is no guilt feeling in people on using money to illegally ease your way out.
