THE THREE CHALLENGES THAT POLITICAL PARTY NEED TO OVERCOME TO REMAIN EFFECTIVE INSTRUMENT OF DEMOCRACY ARE-
1.LACK OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY-ALL OVER THE WORLD THERE IS TENDENCY TOWARD CONCENTRATION OF POWER IN OR FEW HAND. PARTIES DO NOT HOLD ORGANISATIONAL MEETING,DO NOT KEEP MEMBERSHIP REGISTER, AND DO NOT HOLD INTERNAL ELECTION REGULARLY BECAUSE OF WHICH ORDINARY WORKER DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING INSIDE PARTY.MORE THAN LOYALTY TO PARTY PRINCIPLE PERSONAL LOYALTY TO THE PARTY LEADER IS MORE IMPORTANT.
2.DYNASTIC SUCCESSION-SINCE PARTY DO NOT FOLLOW TRANSPARENT PROCEDURES FOR THEIR FUNCTIONING.FEW LEADER AT THE TOP EXERCISE PARAMOUNT POWER.THERE ARE VERY FEW WAYS BY WHICH ORDINARY LEADER COULD RISE AT THE TOP.THOSE WHO ARE AT TOP HAS A UNFAIR ADVANTAGE TO FAVOR PEOPLE CLOSER TO THEM OR EVEN THEIR FAMILY MEMBER BECAUSE OF WHICH PEOPLE WITH LESS EXPERIENCE AND LESS SUPPORT HOLDS POWER OF POSITION.
3.MONEY AND MUSCLE POWER-SINCE PARTIES ARE FOCUSED ONLY ON WINNING ELECTION, THEY TEND TO USE SHORTCUT TO WIN ELECTION.THE RAISE THE CANDIDATES WHO CAN RAISE A LARGE SUM OF MONEY.RICH PEOPLE AND COMPANIES TEND TO INFLUENCE THE DECISIONS OF THE PARTY.IN SOME CASES PARTY SUPPORTS CRIMINAL WHO CAN EASILY WIN ELECTION.
