Villi are the finger like outgrowths of inner surface of human intestine.Their role is to increase the surface area for rapid absorption of digested food. However in Amoeba the finger like projections are called pseudopodia that helps it to catch food particles and move.

hope this helps you out!

these villi increase the surface area so that the food retained in the folds can remain longer thereby enhancing absorption.
