In India the family is the most important institution that has survived through the ages.

Explanation:

Concept of Joint Family

The concept of family go beyond the typical nuclear unit to encompass the wider family circle. This is known joint family. Structurally, the Indian joint family comprise 3-4 living generations, comprising parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins, etc all living together under the same roof, utilising a "common kitchen" & often spending from a "common money pool", contributed by all. Many other Asian  (Srilanka, Bhutan, Pakistan etc) & South Asian (Japan, China) nations follow the concept of joint family or extended family.

Gender Roles/Patriarchal System

In India there is significant inequality in the status of men and women. Within Indian culture the patriarchal system also implies that the family structure  is built on a household arrangement in which only one man is a householder. Women are limited to only being "good daughters, good wives & good mothers" in Patriarchal India. Wife & motherhood in Indian culture are also recognised as main positions for women &  are not permitted to follow other career. Countries such as UAE, Africa, Latin America, follow such family structures

Customs, Traditions, Values & Culture are Given Importance

Indian families are known for their values and giving prominence to their traditions and customs. This comprise respecting elders  by touching their feet, greeting people with a "namaste", allowing elders to take decisions and the younger people respecting such decisions, the concept of arranged marriage where the elders take decision regarding the choice of life partner of the younger people unmarried people, valuing and respecting festivals/poojas etc and celebrating with faith and harmony, etc. This kind of similarities are common in nations such as Japan, China, Latin,  America nations, etc, Asian countries (excluding India)
