Question - Identify balanced chemical equations from the following.

(Select correct answer from the given options.)

(i) C + O2  CO2

(ii) H2 + O2  H2O

(iii) 2Pbo + C  Pb + CO2

(iv) Fe2O3 + 2Al  AL2O3 + 2Fe

(a) All of above are balanced.

(b) (i), (iii), and (iv) are balanced.

(c) (i) and (iv) are balanced.

(d) (i), (ii) and (iii) are balanced

Answer - Options that are correct are - (c) (i) and (iv) are balanced.

Balanced chemical reactions are the reactions where amount of substrate is equal to the amount of product produced. Number of moles should be equal on left hand side and right hand side.

Unbalanced reactions are balanced below -

2H2 + O2 -> 2H2O

In this reaction, 1 mole of oxygen and 2 moles of hydrogen react to form of 2 moles of water.

2PbO + C -> 2Pb + CO2

In this reaction, 2 moles of lead oxide and 1 mole of carbon react to form two moles of lead and 1 mole of carbon dioxide.
