Identify constant, linear, quadratic and cubic polynomials from the following polynomials:
(i) f(x) =0 (ii) g(x) = 2x³-7x+4
(iii) h(x) = -3x+ 1/2
(iv) p(x) = 2x²-x+ 4

concept :

  • constant polynomial : ax^0 [ where a is real number ]
  • linear polynomial : ax + b
  • quadratic polynomial : ax² + bx + c
  • cubic polynomial : ax³ + bx² + cx + d
  • biquadratic polynomial : ax⁴ + bx³ + cx² + dx + e

(i) f(x) = 0 ; it is constant polynomial.

(ii) g(x) = 2x³ - 7x + 4 ; it is cubic polynomial.

(iii) h(x) = -3x + 1/2 ; it is linear polynomial.

(iv) p(x) = 2x² - x + 4 ; it is quadratic polynomial.

(v) q(x) = 4x + 3 ; it is linear polynomial.

(v) 3x³ + 4x² + 5x - 7 ; it is cubic polynomial.
