-birds of the bush

-ready for rest

-soon they all say

-the sun does descend

Explanation:

William Blake's poem The Echoing Green is written in simple terms to express appreciation for nature. However, if we delve deeper, we will discover the poem's theme of life and death. The poem is told by a young child playing in the park "Echoing Green." The poem is divided into three stanzas that, if we dig deep enough, depict the three stages of life. Each stanza has ten lines, and the rhyme scheme is AABB. Another interesting point to note is that the first two stanzas end with "On The Echoing Green," whereas the final stanza ends with "On The Darkening Green." The sun rises over a greenfield filled with birds singing and children playing. As they play, "Old John with white hair" and other elderly bystanders laugh and recall a time when they were young, energetic, and playful. The children eventually tyre and the sun begins to set. The children return to their mothers and prepare to sleep for the night.
