Final answer: Dry tests and wet tests are commonly use salt analysis method for identification and confirmation of cations presents in salt mixture. Wet  tests are performed by dissolving the mixture of salts in water, acid or any other solvent. Dry tests are performed by using mixture of salts.

Given that: We are given an inorganic salt.

To find: We have to find one cationic radical by performing dry and wet test of the given inorganic salt.

Explanation:

  • Dry tests and wet tests are commonly use salt analysis method for identification and confirmation of cations presents in salt mixture.
  • Dry test is conducted for identifying the presence of some cations, such as NH^{4+} and Zn^{2+}. Dry tests are performed by using mixture of salts.

Take a small amount of the salt in a dry test tube, heat it gently results in:

(i) colorless gas with a pungent odor which turns moist red litmus to blue. This indicate the salt may be NH^{4+} salt.

(ii) in cold, there is any white substance in test tube which turn to yellow while heating. Which indicate the presence of Zn^{2+}.

  • Wet tests are those tests which are conducted for confirmation of the cations presents in mixture of salts. Those tests are performed by dissolving the mixture of salts in water, acid or any other solvent.
  • Before starting these test we first to prepare a clear and transparent solution of the salt. This solution is called original solution. Then conduct one by one conformation tests.

The main conformation tests are given in figure below.
