Answer: CH3CH2OH Is Enthanol.

Explanation:

CH3CH2OH _kmno4+koh——- CH3OH + MNO2 + K2 + H2O

i) It Oxides the ethanol to ethanoic acid.

ii) The presence of catalyst KMNO4 and KOH, because of KMNO4 its oxides the reaction, KMNO4 is a strong oxidising agent.

iii) It is an alkaline Solution.

iv) When it is heated the pink colour of KMNO4 solution is disappears.

V is Ethanoic acid (CH₃COOH).

The given reactant is Ethanol (CH₃CH₂OH).

The reactant is alkaline Potassium permanganate (KOH+KMnO₄).

We know that alkaline KMnO₄ is a very strong powerful oxidising agent.

As a result, the nascent oxygen produced, [O], directly removes all the H-atom(s) and/or add O-atom(s).

This process is known to us as oxidation.

Alcohols are oxidised to Aldehydes and they are further oxidised to Carboxyllic acids.

Since, the alkaline KMnO₄ is a very strong powerful oxidising agent, it oxidises the alcohol to its corresponding carboxyllic acid, and that is Ethanoic acid (CH₃COOH).

CH₃CH₂OH + KOH + KMnO₄CH₃COOH

So, ethanoic acid is the final product, (V).
