Natural resource management deals with managing the way in which people and natural landscapes interact. It brings together land use planning, water management, biodiversity conservation, and the future sustainability of industries like agriculture, mining, tourism, fisheries and forestry. It recognises that people and their livelihoods rely on the health and productivity of our landscapes, and their actions as stewards of the land play a critical role in maintaining this health and productivity.[1]
The factors that influence the use of natural resources are as follows -
• Population :
Both the human population and the population of the other species are dependent on the natural resources. So,the amount of the population is directly proportional to the amount of usage of the natural resources.
Example : If the number of deer increases in a forest, then the consumption of the green vegetation will be also increased.
• Availability :
It is obvious that,a natural resources is only usable when it is fairly available in our environment. The usage amount of natural is directly proportional to the amount of availability of the resources.
Example : Diamond and gold are rarely available, and that's why they are used in very less amount (high prices also). But,iron is easily available and that's why it is also used in a huge amount.
• Necessity : The usage amount of the natural resources is dependent on the amount of necessity of the natural resources.
Example : Oxygen is more necessary than gold, that's why usage of oxygen is more than the usage of gold,by us.
