Answer:

(a) Tearing of paper - physical change

We say that tearing of paper is a physical change , because the chemical composition of paper hasn't changed here and the torn paper pieces can be glued together to get their normal form back .

(b) Cutting of fruits - physical change

Cutting of fruits is said to be a physical change because there is only a change in the physical form of the fruits . The chemical composition of the fruits does not change when we cut them . So , cutting of fruits is a physical change .

(c) Burning of coal - chemical change

Burning of coal is said to be a chemical change because during the burning process of coal there is a change in the coal's chemical composition due to the carbon in the coal changing into carbon dioxide ( this change cannot be reversed ) .

(d) Rusting of iron - chemical change

Rusting of iron is said to be a chemical change because when iron rusts there is a change in it's chemical composition . During rusting where iron is exposed to moisture and oxygen , iron changes into iron oxide . This

process is also called as oxidation reaction . Hence rusting of iron is said to be a chemical change .
