Identify the following sets as finite or infinite.
(i) X = The set of all districts in Tamilnadu.
(ii) Y = The set of all straight lines passing through a point.
(iii) A = { x : x ∈Z and x <5}
(iv) B = {x : x2–5x+6 = 0, x ∈N}

1.
Since X contains countable number of states

X is finite set.

2. Y is an infinite set because infinite number of lines can pass through a single
point.

3. A = {.............-2, -1, 0, 1, 2,3,4}

A is an infinite set.

4.
The solution of x^2-5x+6= 0 are 2 and 3

B = { 2, 3}

B is a finite set

I hope this answer helps you

Ans 1)
There are finite number of districts in the state of Tamil Nadu so the set is a finite set

Ans 2)
There will be infinite number of lines that can pass trough a unique point so the set is an infinite set

Ans 3)
The following instruction set indicates
x such that x belongs to the set of integers which are less than 5
So the set is
{4,3,2,1,0,-1,-2....}
So there are infinite numbers hence the set is an infinite set

Ans 4)
The following set means that x such that
x² -5x+ 6=0
Solving the equation we get,
x²-3x-2x+6 =0
x(x-3) -2(x-3) =0
(x-3)(x-2)=0
x=3 or x=2
So the set consist of elements
{2,3}
So this is a finite set
