- Non-finite verbs can be sub-divided into three types:

- Infinitive: The infinitive is a form of verb, not changed for person, tense and number. It is introduced with the word "-to". Its negative is formed by adding "not" before the infinitive.
Example:-
I hope to see you again.
He promised not to see the girl again.
- Gerund: The Gerund is the verb ending with "-ing". It acts as a noun. It's negative is formed by adding "not" before the gerund.
Example:-
Painting is my favourite hobby.
- Participle: The participle is a word formed from a verb and shares the function of a verb and an adjective. It acts as an adjective.
Example:-
The burning candle was mine (Present)
The burnt candle was mine (Past)
