Given : a graph ( parabola)

To find : point corresponding to P

Solution:

Point corresponding to P   = ( - 4  , 0)

 P '   ( -2 , 0)    ( having same y value )

Q  is  ( - 1 , - 3)

Q'  is ( - 5 , - 3)

max value = (-3 , 1)

Additional info :

Let say

y = ax²  + bx + c

x = 0 , y = - 8

=> c   = -8

=> y = ax² + bx  - 8

x = - 2  , y = 0

=> 0 = 4a - 2b - 8

=> 2a - b = 4

x = - 4 , y = 0

=> 0 = 16a - 4b - 8

=> 4a - b = 2

=> 2a  = - 2

=> a = - 1

=> b =  -6

y = -x²  - 6x   - 8

y = - (x + 3)²  + 1
