The process is known as sublimation.
Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. Because it looks like ice and because when it “melts” (it actually sublimes) it goes from solid straight to gas, no liquid, hence dry ice.

The process by which Dry ice changes to Carbon dioxide is SUBLIMATION
It's called as Solid carbon dioxide as
when it converts into gas it directly converts from solid to gas without entering liquid state so it is termed as dry ice and ice as it looks like ice.
