Answer :-

When 1ml of Dil. HCl acid is added to 1g of sodium metal . It forms NaCl and the hydrogen gas is evolved.

Dil.HCl + Na gives NaCl + H evolves

Characteristics of this reaction :-

  • The reaction take place between dil. HCl and sodium is called displacement reaction

  • Displacement reactions are those reactions in which more reactive metal displaces less reactive metal .

  • In this reaction sodium is more reactive than hydrogen so sodium displaces hydrogen from the solution.

  • This reaction is also called exothermic reaction .

  • Exothermic reaction are those reactions in which heat is released .
