There are four types of sentence patterns namely, simple, compound , complex and compound complex. The sentence pattern followed in the following sentences are:

  • All the sentence here are simple sentences.
  • The baby is crying has subject and verb. The subject here is the baby is and the verb is crying. (Verbs are words that describe an action, an occurrence, or a state of being (exist). There must be a verb in almost every sentence. The infinitive is a verb's fundamental form. Examples are call, love, break, and go.)
  • In the second sentence, there is subject , verb and object. He is subject, handles is verb and computer is object.
  • The sentence I gave Rosy a pen has subject, verb and object. I is subject, gave is verb and a pen is object.
  • The fourth sentence has subject, verb and adverbial. (A word (an adverb) or a set of words (an adverbial clause or adverbial phrase) that modifies or more precisely defines the sentence or the verb). Here, The truck is subject, came is verb and here is adverbial.
  • The last sentence has subject and verb only. The subject is birds and the verb here is fly.
