The objective case is used for nouns and pronouns which function as objects.

"Him" is the direct object of the verb "saw."
- The indirect object of a sentence is the recipient of the direct object.
- I wrote her a letter.
"Her" is the indirect object of the verb "wrote"
- The object of a preposition is the noun or pronoun governed by a preposition.
- It is a gift from them.
"Them" is the object of the preposition "from."
- In English, the objective case only affects personal pronouns .
- "I" cannot be an object.
- The object of a preposition cannot be the subject of a verb.
- Use "whom" if it's an object.
