There are four types of soil horizon:
A horizon:The A horizon is the top layer of the soil horizons, often referred to as 'topsoil'. This layer has a layer of dark decomposed organic materials, which is called "humus".this is very fertile and good for growth of plants.
B horizon :The B horizon is commonly referred to as "subsoil", and consists of mineral layers which may contain concentrations of clay or minerals such as iron or aluminium oxides or organic material . this soil don't contain humus.
C horizon :The C horizon (parent rock) is below the B Horizon. This layer is little affected by soil forming processes (weathering),it is compressed and harder than sub soil.
Bed rock : bed rock is very hard similar to compressed rocks and very hard to dig with spade.
